This perennial plant is also known as slippery root and blackwort. Comfrey is commonly used in herbal therapy to treat coughs, heavy menstrual periods, chest discomfort, and cancer.
Ironically, using comfrey may raise the risk of cancer and induce liver damage.

Coughwort, farfarae folium leaf, and foalswort are some of the other names for this plant.
